Condition, options, mileage, mods? All would affect value.
Some guesses.... For a base with a rolling chassis with 60k miles and the engine in pieces, maybe $3k. The same car with everything perfect and a running 2.7 engine, maybe $11k. With an IMS, maybe another $1k. With a 3.4, maybe the same due to uncertainty about future maintenance. Mods can even hurt the value of the car. So to come out even you can put ~$8k into the total costs of the diagnosis of the current engine and its repair, the replacement motor, its installation, etc and be OK. My sympathy. Every one we lose hurts. |

you should consider another 2.7 motor and replace the bearing before it goes in. Probably the cheapest way to go. If you still want to sell after that, at least you'll have a running car to sell and you market it with the IMS replaced.

A list of salvage yards is here should you decide to go that route.
