My question is about the coolant sensor on my 2007 Boxster. The temp gage intermittently 2-3 times in a month was briefly not showing eng temp and a warning light lit indicating that the sensor was not working. I assumed it was a bad connection because it would â??fix itselfâ? after a minute or so. Now I am getting the engine warning light with a OBD diagnostic code p3018. I canâ??t positively nail down that code, but I believe it is referring to the coolant sensor. I feel the sensor has in fact gone bad not a bad connectionand needs replacing. In addition, the car will intermittently not start properly at first, but will ultimately start/run. Can you confirm my assessment and advise corrective action? Thanks. Bob

I can only offer my advice, I can't exactly confirm anything without seeing the vehicle myself. I do not have a description for that code, so your code reader may be displaying it incorrectly. When your engine doesnt start youll want to check the basics. Check spark, fuel injector pulse and fuel pressure, volume, quality and engine compression. Are there any fault codes? Once you figure out what is missing, it will be easier to diagnose.
