Replaced door latch and window regulator on driver's door. All works fine when left unlocked. But when I lock the car and then unlock it and use the outside door handle I have to pull it 4x before the latch releases. Each pull results in the window coming down and then going back up when released. But door stays closed until the 4th time. This is ONLY after it was locked. If I closed the door and leave it unlocked it opens at the first pull of the outside handle every time. What's going on?

The cable for the latch may be faulty or not fully seated in the handle. Check the connecting points from the handle to the latch.
