2006 987 Window issue

So I noticed when leaving work this evening that the auto up on my passenger window was acting up. The window will go all the way to the top then come back down about half way. I also noticed that I can hold the button to get the window back up with no issue leading me to think maybe the window has some sort of pressure sensor for the auto up that is being tripped. After further investigation I have also noticed that the window only very slightly retracts when using the passenger door handle but it does move.

Any ideas?

check that the side cables on the top in the window area are going home behind the top frame over the window. if the top is outside the top frame that stresses the top from closing properly and that in turn can make the windows act up. bob

The window motors contain a torque sensor that reverses in the "up" direction when a force threshold is reached (say 100N). There is also a position sensor to tell the unit the window is at the top. One or both of these sensors is faulty in all likelihood. Check that everything is in tact with the motor and sensors (connections, etc.). Worst case you would replace the window motor (assuming sensors are self contained). Good luck.
Lyle.
