Central locking issues.
Hi all,
I have a recently purchased project 2002 2.7 986 with a few electrical issues that I am trying to resolve. The front and rear luggage compartment locks are electrically operated. I only have one key which has a u/s central locking button (collapsed into the body of the key...the two smaller buttons on the key work causing the red light on the key to flash but have no impact on the car) so I can only lock and unlock the drivers door using the key into the lock. The central locking button on the dash works locking both doors, but the key lock only operates the drivers door lock. The internal buttons (electrical) unlock the rear trunk but will not open the front hood. If I add power directly to the front actuator it works. If i swap the internal switch for the front to the rear, it will operate the rear trunk lock...so it would seem that the switch for the front is good and the actuator is good.....but the front hood electric release will not work. Also, the petrol flap does not lock when locking the car. The battery is new and correct for the car. all of the fuses in the footwell fuse box are correct and good. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance. Jon |

jonjeffryes,
You may have a wet immobilizer central locking unit under your driver's seat on the floor. Pretty common in Boxster 986. Let me know if that's what you find since I can help you troubleshoot further.
