I have a 2008 Boxster RS 60 Spyder with 21k miles. Is there anything I can do to avoid the IMS failure? My understanding after reading your articles is that it's something easy to fix in older models and it doesn't affect newer ones, but in my car's case nothing could be done.

Keep up to date on oil changes and drive the vehicle. I do recall LN having a kit to make the later engine bearings serviceable, but you have to disassemble engine to install the adapter..

Weren't there some folks who were removing a seal to allow oil to better lube the bearing?
