The fault code is P0140. The mechanic is saying now he has to check the wires leading to the sensor ...still he can not find anything. Any advise , please...

Sounds like the sensor may have failed coincidentally. Also possible the wiring or sensor has impact damage, ask shop to show you faulty sensor. Look for physical damage. if none, assume coincidental.
