Question on Boxster 911 Engine Swap

Wow, great article.

I just finished installing a 2007 2.7 into a 2006 Cayman S replaced the 3.4; I figured out the different generator wiring and all else is fine.

Car appears to run well, should I still remap the DME for the smaller engine? Both use the 7.8.

Thanks Nick, but the problem is that the car is a 2006 and the motor is a 2007, and since there were no 2.7's in 06, there isn't a map that fits neatly.

I did do the remap but got a batt/gen red warning light, and a CEL, which I assume was from trying to run an 07 map in an 06 car. (gen light is another issue)

I went back to the 06, 3.4 map, and all "seems" fine (car runs well and no lights are on). I did a 14 hour road trip on the weekend and, again, the car runs fine.

So... I wonder if I can just leave it that way (2.7 engine with a 3.4 map) and not worry about it.

I think I'd datalog it just to see what the numbers look like. Interesting to me that it is running with no issues. You did pretty well, I think.

I've thought about doing this with a 911.
