Engine mount problem

I changed my engine mount on my "01 Boxster S
only to find that my engine is now sitting about an inch or so lower toward the front of the motor. Everything bolt on correctly. Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to the forum! I've attached a link to our site's DIY tech article on the motor mount replacements. Take a look at it, it may help you troubleshoot. If you have any questions, please feel free to post a Comment just below the article and one of our techs will get back to you with details.

What part did you use?

I replaced mine (2001 Base) about a week ago. I bought the Lemfoerder insert (987-375-023-05-M69) and had it pressed in at a local machine shop for $20.00.

I was VERY careful to make certain it wasn't pressed in upside down. If installed upside down the engine will sit about 1/2" lower. There is a yellow mark, which can be compared with the photos on this site to make certain it wasn't upside down. Unfortunately, you have to take it out to look at it. If it is upside down have it pressed out and turned over by a machine shop. It should be fine. If you bought the entire mount with the new insert and it happens to be wrong it can still be fixed locally. If it is off by a full inch, it sounds like the mount wasn't seated properly against the bottom of the car too. You can feel it there is a gap without removing anything.

Mine is perfect!

Did you fully seat the studs, when they were reinstalled?
