My 99 Boxster has a GAHH replacement top with a glass rear window
I can’t get it into the service position without it hitting the rollbar. What am I doing wrong? |

Mine is doing the same thing. I suspect that when the top was reinstalled it's just out of adjustment on the right side. I'm hoping that loosening the three attachment bolts and tweeking the top a bit will solve this. Complicated things these tops--I basically replace all the linkage on the right side, some of it twice, because the previous owner wrecked it all when he stripped the plastic gear in the right top transmission. If I can't get the top right, I'll probably end up taking it to a convertible top shop and ask them to troubleshoot it,
![]() BTW. Welcome!

Mine will go up or down with a little help. I just got the power part working again, but had to put my car back in the body shop for some more paint. So I have a lot of adjusting to do yet.
When I replaced my top, I just got a used top (with frame) on Ebay and switched out the whole thing.

It may be different
depending on if Brian has the '03-'04 top assembly or a GAHH or other top on a '97-'02 frame. I know he said he bought a frame and top on eBay but the common swap done that way of the '03-'04 top and frame which will differ from the OP's GAHH.
