It depends on how much money you want to throw into a new engine. Casesavers should make a permanent fix of the pulled studs.

What did you do about this engine? I have a really good 3.0L from a 1980SC for sale in the London Ont area.It has 107k mi on it Was dismantled about 15000 ago for a broken stud and pressure fed tensioner update. I am a retired class A technician and can install. johnsjmc@sympatico.ca 519 768 3133.

I personally wouldn't take a 2,7 magnesiun case and take it to 3.2/3.6L. My experience is that although case savers will solve your head stud issue any number of perimeter studs may pull if not inserted, Especially the stud between the crank and intermediate shaft. If your engine once had thermal reactors I would be very careful with it. The material tends to become very brittle with age. You'll certainly need to get the case checked for straightness. I am in the process of rebuilding a 2.7. I assembled the case 3 times due to the perimeter studs pulling.
