Local part purchase options?

Hi guys - I'm over in Canada visiting my folks (I live in Oz now) and have been busily snapping up tools and other goodies while here.

I also investigated having some parts shipped from our host to Toronto while I'm here, but never ended up doing it. Specifically I'm looking at replenishing my supply of Mahle oil filters, and grabbing an extra distributor cap and rotor. When I added the shipping to the cost of the parts, it didn't work out to be any cheaper than buying locally in Oz. (I don't really have a bunch of other parts that I need right now, which is how I normally can offset the shipping charges on these types of items)

So I thought it might be worth checking if there is an Auto Parts store either in Ottawa or Toronto where I can find the above items at a PP-comparable price? Do any of you guys buy these locally, or do you always order them from PP? Are the NAPA-aligned stores worth visiting?

Patiently awaiting your reply with poutine fork poised,

Al

The filters are available from some of the local parts suppliers but they need a day or so to bring them in. Gaskets are sometimes harder for them to get.
There are some Pcar parts suppliers online that you can purchase from without the brokerage fees coming across the border. Just search Porsche parts Canada. In Toronto you could get stuff from our host dropped shipped across the border and pick it up.
Good luck and enjoy your stay in Canada, eh!

Some of the independent shops or even the Porsche dealers might have some specials on - call around.

Have generally found that the big box stores (Canadian Tire, etc.) are really concentrating their shelf supplies on the main 80 % of the market (new Chev, Dodge, Honda, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, etc.). Sometimes you might get lucky but it could be a lengthy search.
