Front Struts Question
I posted this in the 911 Tech Forum yesterday & so far I've drawn zero responses:
I have a 1970T with pinch-bolt struts (Boge) which I plan on swapping with some Boges (with 3" caliper bolt spacing) if they check out after I have them magnafluxed. These replacement struts were picked up at a swap meet without the male threaded gland nut. I want to keep the car as close to stock as possible so I opted for these Boge wedge-pins as a safety upgrade as per Grady et al. I pulled an existing strut insert from the car to check things out before purchasing new inserts for the intended replacement struts. ![]() This is the insert I removed from the existing Boge pinch-bolt strut. ![]() This is the male threaded gland nut that appears to be an integral part of the insert tube. Incidentally those gouge marks on the gland nut OD were from a previous install. ![]() This photo is a top view showing the general arrangement of the bushing/seal assembly & 2 holes I presume are for a dedicated installation tool. The tube is stamped (barely visible) 82R 1647 612 with no other identification marks. I've done a pile of searching & drawn nothing but blanks. My question is what kind of inserts are these & what to do about the gland nut issue & seal for new inserts? I hope to purchase the new inserts from our host. Any advice members of the board can forward to me will be most appreciated. I may be breaking the"double-post"rule but could somebody be so kind as to steer me into the right direction Cheers JB

Koni inserts
82R 1647 is the same as 86-1647. 82R is an OLD part # Pelican shows them as unavailable. Not sure about the gland nut and seal.....
