More precisely, it is a 3.0 CSL.......the L designation for "Light" as it had an aluminum hood and trunk lid. Quite rare....I believe that only enough were assembled by the early incarnation of the BMW M Group to pass homologation rules as required by the European Touring Car championship series. The cars won the manufactures series two or three times I think.
