Got my recall letter from Mini today - 2 years and 1 month since the power or really, ANY steering went out on me while driving our 2004 Cooper at 71,000 miles. HURRAY!
We refused to pay for a repair, fearing the cost would be all or much at our expense, even if a recall ever came. Mini will cover all service and parts at any Mini dealership; only parts if you brought it to an independent garage. During the past year my wife - who bought the car - rufused to drive the thing anymore. I love the beginning of the MINI letter: "At Mini, we are committed to maintaining a level of automotive and service excellence that exceeds your expectations now and in the future. Consistent with this phlosophy, we want to help you avoid problems and minimize your inconvenience." Well, Mini, where were you and your dealerships two years ago? No one would respond to our concerns. Only the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration cared enough to gather some information from us when we called them. But never heard from them again, either, during the past two years. __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Pelican Technical Article: MINI Cooper - Power Steering Pump Replacement |
