Nick - Just replaced the power steering pump on my 2003 mini, the steering issue still is not fixed. Now what? bought a reman pump, paid $300 for it.

How did you determine the pump was faulty? The rebuilt unit may be defective.

Nick - I just assumed the pump was bad when the steering became so difficult, googled the issue and everything I read said it's the pump, so I changed it out. Was that a big mistake? Also I talked to the Mini Corporate service group they said if it is the pump they will change it out at no cost (i.e. recall), but that would require me to re-install the original pump, what a mess.
