Not sure if I have a serious issue. The coolant tank was filled with steering fluid by mistake over a period of time. It was believed that it was a steering rack leak and this was replaced very expensive and not required The car started to overheat and is currently being flushed of the steering fluid with new coolant being put in. The mechanics have now said that having done all this it appears that the engine is still overheating and feel that the car may indeed be beyond repair. Do you know of any other reason that the car would still overheat having done all this. they are now suspecting that there has been a leak somewhere for some time. Any info you can provide would be much appreciated. Car is a mini copper model 2004.

If you flush out the power steering fluid out of the cooling system, it should be OK.
You could have a faulty thermostat, water pump or a restriction, maybe even air in the system. - Nick |
