Hi, I am a mechanic by trade. I just bought my daughter an 02 R53. The engine was blown so I found a good low mile used one. Very clean inside and good bearings. After installing it the oil light stays on. I tached it up to 1500 rpm and the light stayed on. Needless to say I shut it down. My question is: are there oil seals that go bad or am I looking at a new pump. I am new to Mini so any help would be appreciated.

The pumps can fail, however not that common. Have to checked oil pressure at idle and 1500 RPM? What are the numbers?
