New shifting cables installed flawlessly. However went to shift through the gears and it felt like the gears didn't match the shifter. Like my shifter was saying neutral but the transmission was saying first. Would get stuck in a gear and the only way to get it out would be to manually position the top of the transmission where the cables connect. Tried popping off the cables and getting to what felt line Neutral and putting the shifter in neutral before popping the cables back onto their heads, but no dice. Any recommendations?

Do you have the cables switched side to side?
