Should the power steering pump fan run the whole time the car is running or does it go off and on according to how hot the pump gets? The power steering pump on my '05 Mini Cooper isn't working and I don't want to replace the pump and burn up the new one because of a bad fan. Any info. would be appreciated.

The cooling fan for the power steering pump only runs when the engine cooling fan is activated.
