Hi. I have a mini 2009 with steptronic transmission. I cannot shift into Park, neither I can put the shifter into manual mode. R, N and D only. The shifter feels loose with some side to side movement. Once in D, I can drive the car and transmission runs smoothly - I can also shift gears manually through the wheel shifters. Seems to be a problem inside the conosle shifter assembly, something out of place... Any comments much appreciated.

I would remove the center console and check if the cable is binding or the shifter is broken. Once apart, you can inspect it.
