Mini cooper steering lock fault

I have a mini cooper made in May 2007 , Auto , R56 , 6 speed , 2 door hatch . the fault I have is a steering lock red fault light that comes on all the time and over ride all other small faults . How can I fix this problem and what parts will I need to order off pelican parts to resolve this pain in the bottom alarm .
Also there is an amber alarm which comes up first , which I think its the blowen bulb alarm, and then the steering lock alarm over rides all its too quick me the amber alarm has the symbol next too where you adjust the brightness on the rev gauge or tachometer , LHS bottom of the gauge . on the RHS of the tacko is the trip reset arm .

From my reading on other forums, the "clock spring" assembly in the steering wheel may be to blame for at least some of your symptoms. But you may have more going on than that. Electrical glitches in modern cars can be difficult to track down, sometimes.

If nobody has any other suggestions, I would try one of two things. Either find a Bentley manual and see if you can find a troubleshooting flowchart that matches at least some of your symptoms, and follow it doing tests to try to determine the cause(s), or take it to a good independent MINI-experienced garage. Or maybe even the dealer.

Finallly I have fond the steering fault code alarm # . CC-ID186 .
The amber fault that first comes up , but the steering red alarm over rides all other faults in a matter of seconds , Are but I found a fault code number . CC-ID345 .

I work Under Grounder as and Electrician you had to try an learn as much , by reading the ifo about what could be the problem ,and the is no difference here with is Mini I have .I has near done me in a couple of the times but I beat it . If Yous cannot work out these code #,s I have given you,s well , Ill have to got to BMW And they charge like a wounded Bull .

You might be able to Google up the fault codes. It may take some searching, though.

One thing to remember about the electrical stuff--in our cars, most stuff is DC rather than AC, and low-voltage at that. In addition, a whole lot of what runs the car are computer signals, which are very rapidly oscillating DC and even lower voltage still.

Sorry I can't help with the specifics.
