Great article.
My window stoppped working but I could hear the motor working. I removed the regulator using your guide much better than the Bentley manual and found a piece of broken glass that may have been jammed in the regulator gearbox but when I pulled it out it was just sitting in the gap. I had a broken window glass from a stone flickedup on the highway a few months ago, and even though I vacuumed out all the glass I could find then, there was quite a lot in the bottom of the door when I removed the trim this time. Anyway, the motor turns but the gear doesn't so it looks like something is stripped there. I can turn it with my fingers but it is stiff. I can wind the regulator with a pair of pliers but it is very stiff. Should it be like this? __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: MINI Cooper Window Regulator Replacement (R50/R52/R53 2001-2006) | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article |

No, sounds like the regulator gear is faulty. it is plastic and could fail easily if jammed.
