Good day, i have a 2003 Mini Cooper S, I have replace the PSP in May 2016. it worked until August 2016. It then started to drain the battery, It was still under warranty and so I got a second dorman PSP. BUT it still not working. The pump functions but the steering wheel Is as hard to turn as if the PSP is not working. I have loosen the Bolt of pipe with pressure and there wasn't much pressure. Did I, somehow, squeeze a pipe, preventing proper flow , or a faulty replacement, or .... Any ideas Nick? Thanks

I would assume it is a faulty pump, again. if the pump is running and there isn't any pressure, the pump is faulty.

Where are you getting this pump from? Might want to go with a different brand replacement pump. The Bosch OEM supplier pump that is rebuilt is here: 2003 Mini Cooper S Hatchback - Power Steering Pumps. It's good quality and comes with a 24 month warranty.
Also, make sure your P/S fan is working properly. If it's not running it could cause P/S issues. If you turn on your AC it should kick on, as a way to test it. |
