replaced battery, registered battery has IBS, drove it next day hard start afterwork. Now check engine light it on. 2B64, 296A. wondering if this is from battery or just a coincidence.

Your scan tool is pulling the MINI FC code. P1497 0x2B64 is Downstream Throttle Air Leak. Check for vacuum leaks. A smoke test will be your best bet to track one down, if that's your cause. Could be something simple like a leaking valve cover. Have also seen VANOS cause this fault. Might not be a bad idea to clean yours first. P1338 0x296A - Camshaft Position Sensor Rationality Check (Inlet - Outlet)

For P1338, if replacing the camshaft sensor does nothing your engine timing could be off. I'd possibly also check your VANOS, but I'd think you'd have a VANOS code as well.
