Automatic trans help, advice needed

My 2005 MCS has the 6 speed automatic and yesterday the car shifted from 3 to 4 and nothing by motor revs. Pulled over and turn the car off and when I restarted the car flashed the EP code. The car would not go in any gear but when I press the gas pedal the car would move slowly. The day the car would drive in 1,2&3 gears and then 4th and nothing by motor revs. I disconnected the battery for 12 hrs and when I reconnected it the EP code was still there. I still only have 3 forward gears but the car will go to about 50 mph. If I reset the computer with a ode code reader is there any chance the transmission will go back to normal or does it need a new valve body. I need advise

You might be able to clear faults and adaptations to see what happens. You'll need a scan tool that can see the transmission code to reset it. I have seen this issue with a bad module, paddles and/or the shifter itself. Also, in a few cases a bad battery. Did you plug into your OBDII and look to see if there are any faults present in the system?

I'd also suggest you post this information in this article here: MINI Cooper Automatic Transmission Fluid Change (R50/R52/R53/R56/R57 2001-2015) | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article. Nick might also have some valuable input for you.
