Hi can you help please, my girlfriend bought a July 2004 Mini Cooper last night all was well, she drove it for about 50 miles. Today the gear stick is very sloppy and she can't engage reverse, when trying to get 1st and 2nd she gets 3rd & 4th, is this likely to be the cables ?

SOunds like the shift cables are faulty. I would inspect and replace if needed. Give The Pelican Parts parts specialists a call at 1-888-280-7799. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need.

What are the last 7 digits of the MINI's vin number? Inspect the cables for any corrosion or type of stretching.
