When removing the unit ther are two large plastic clips on the top and bottom of the unit which have to be considered when removing the unit it does not just slip out.I would also suggest replacing all the bulbs when performing this service.Also if the bulbs seem ok then the problem is most likely poor contacts on the bulb holders or circuit board just clean and they should work.
