Hi, I have a 2006 Mini Cooper S, and the battery is completely shot and needs to be replaced. How do I know if the computer will need to be reset after replacing the battery?

if the negative terminal has electronics on it, you will have to register the new battery.

I don't believe the R53 came equiped with the IBS unit. You can always check by looking at the negative battery terminal. The R56 is what came with or even with out the IBS modules.
