My car has been stumbling at idle terribly, on cold start it sounds okay for the first few seconds until it drops into idle, at that point it sounds like a cammed out hot rod. I had P0015 cam over retarded or something of that nature, we looked at the timing and it was indeed off, after re aligning the timing and getting proper torque values with new bolts, turn the car over and still idling super super poorly. Car sounds like its hanging on for dear life. No VANOS code but considering swapping the solenoid or possibly the sprocket? Re did the timing casette 5k miles ago... any other ideas as to what would cause the timing to get off immediately? AFR all looks good, no vaccuum or boost leaks after smoke testing and correcting a minor IC leak. Appreciate all your write ups in general by the way, theve helped me a lot.

If timing was off, engine damage may have occurred. I would check compression to see if the engine is sealing.

Did you clear the codes and see what codes returned? Yes, I'd do a compression/leak down test.
