Wife say "I was thinking the fenders could be wider" :O
So I took my new 911sc out for my first Sunday morning romp. Brought it back and mentioned to my wife that I thought about maybe doing a wide body on the car. Something about a simple clean car, with turbo body just feels so right.
She turns and says, "yea, I thought about that". Me: "WHAT! What do you mean you thought about that?" Her: "Well when you first got it and pulled in the garage I though it could have wider fenders". I do love this lady, who lets me indulge my inner child!! |

Sell it as a stock classic and buy one already widened that someone can't get a good price for because it us too hard to return to stock.

Agree find a car that is done with turbo flares already.
Otherwise your car will be in the body shop for a year for 4 fenders and a respray. That alone sounds like a $15k job. Also very easy for flare jobs to go sideways, not easy getting the flares correct on a 911. 20 years ago took my wife out on Laguna Seca for a track session in my 911. The first thing she said after taking off her helmet was... "I will never question you again when you want to buy new tires".

Yea I know. If I want a "wide" car i'll buy a Viper I can't afford a wide Porsche I'm not a 1%er.
![]() Jut like I can't afford a fast Porsche, but I like it and it makes me smile. If I want fast I can always find a Vette. :O I still haven't seen a good breakdown on the crazy costs I see associated with wide body conversions. |

I do plan on doing a rocker delete, and IROC front and rear bumpers black headlight rings, and yellow lenses.
The interior is going to get RS door cards (orange pulls), I think Vallelunga seats (orange shell), rear seat delete, and an orange 1/2 bolting cage. I think the orange will mesh well with the warm silver exterior. I have no intention of ever selling the car. I don't want a newer Porsche as I prefer the sounds and smells of the older cars. |

If you go for non factory wide body hotrods (personally, I don't), they go for less than the value of your car plus the cost of conversion (assuming you pay someone to do it right). Here are a few that are less than 50K:

Well I would assume I would use factory front fenders if I was to go that route, with glass bumpers, the rear qtr, I am not sure. I would assume steel flares as well.
Aside from bolting on fenders, I have a hard time seeing the cutting and welding of rear flares being a catastrophically large about of cash. A good (not show) quality paint job will be in the cars future at some point. That being said, I will keep it skinny and save my money for a new catastrophically expensive engine rebuilt when the time comes.... All that money to be a quick as a minivan lol

Mrs. G: Honey, does this make my butt look big?
G: No sweetie, you could go a little wider.

I yea, I know better than to try to force the Porsche to go fast, it's more for looking at. If I wanted a fast car i'd be in a Corvette, but alas I lack the gold chains and have to much hair still
![]() Maybe someday if I need to go fast. |
