So it's basically a defamation system until someone pays them extortion money?
How does it still exist? |

i wrote a horrific review.
a burrito joint. place had two groups of customers. idiot owners son, takes my order, and proceeds to take my veggie burrito to to the wrong table. i watch the other customer unwrap the burrito, note that it is the wrong one, and the idiot owners son rewraps it and gives it to me. bare hands..he just took my money!! way too many people touched that poor thing. lets just say it got ugly. the review is still there. i cant believe the kid couldnt remember who go which order. it was dead!!

You probably can't do a lot of damage to someone who's willing to pay Yelp's protection money. Write bad reviews where you can. When I read reviews, it's pretty easy to tell if it's by a real customer, describing a real experience or a disgruntled former employee, vendor, tire kicker, etc.
A former employer of mine, the worst I've ever had, was forcing employees to write fake good reviews on Glassdoor. They were so obvious to anyone who had worked there, and plenty of former employees wrote truthful, terrible reviews. So, when you see only great or horrible reviews, with nothing in between, that's a red flag. In fact, someone alerted Glassdoor to the fake reviews and that employer is now no longer allowed to respond to reviews. They are getting shredded, I have to think they're having a hard time attracting decent talent now. But then Yelp is really a protection racket and Glassdoor is not.

Yelp is a newer scam based on the BBB game plan. Both just a scam.....IMO.

Ehh, I consider that people are more likely to leave a negative review than positive review.
If a place is 100% positive...sumting wong. What I tend to do is read the negative reviews only, and work to filter what percentage are really the fault of the reviewers poor life or communication skills. |
