new wheels/tires for the Boxster

I know this forum is 911 oriented but I thought I'd post a few pics of " the beast " . She has a 3.6L short stroke Jake Raby engine with a 996 GT3 front bumper cover , GT3 side covers and a GT3 TEK rear diffuser . Today I installed some JR Motorsport wheels I purchased a few years ago . I still have the hardtop on as I am still completing the garage she will rest in but she has a black soft top with glass rear window . I have about 4,000 miles on the engine she is........... well ............ a beast This car is a LOT of fun to drive and I just wanted to show her off

Nice wheels! I’ll bet it’s a blast to drive.

The car looks great, the wheels work well.
I don't think I'd ever take the top off.
Having that power must be a blast.
It's gonna be a treat to be able to keep it in the new garage.

I d bet if someone developed a hardtop that had more of a Cayman look, they would sell a bunch of them.
How is the spacing with the engine cover and the rear trunk for a longer back slope?

Cheers Richard

Do the early Boxsters with higher HP engine have cooling issues with the smaller side intakes than the more recent ones?

Nice, sounds like fun! What is the wheel weight? I’ve had several Boxsters that came with heavy aftermarket oversized wheels, going back to OEM made a noticeable difference in performance and ride quality.

This being an S model it has three radiators up front , she runs cool and strong regardless of how hot it is outside .

I did not weigh the wheels but my arms say they are about the same as the OEM I took off but that is not confirmed . I plan on these wheels being my street set and if I ever get around to track events the OEM's will be my track set .

There are several manufacturers of Cayman like hardtops for Boxsters . Some look quite nice others not so much . But if I wanted a Cayman I would have bought one The one thing I do not like about the OEM hardtop is you can't access the engine with it on . I only bought it because I got a good price on it AND I wanted one as a backup to the soft top in case anything happened to it . Once my garage is done the hardtop will spend most of its life on the ceiling hoist setup .

That thing must be a hoot to drive. You will certainly surprise a lot of cars with that.

Curious, do you plan on racing? I ask because I think I would go crazy not being able to use all that power on the street. Having a 3.2 is frustrating enough.

Yeah, not sure why you would put a Cayman roof on a Boxster. IMO, the Boxster rag top is a pretty nice looking top. i think it would be cheaper or close just to buy a Cayman (base) Those roofs are pretty expensive before you even get to paint.

Not asking what you paid for the motor but what would someone pay for that motor implant installed? Is it in the $20's?

This engine built/installed is 25K . It was a pre-retirement gift to myself . I have a lot of fun with it in the mountains but at some point in time will get her out on Road Atlanta to let her rip
