New long spoon.............
Just added a new Ruger 9mm carbine to the pile. The best thing is that I did not have to spend any $$$! Actually, I swapped a .22 rimfire rifle for it so no money changed hands! I did go ahead and buy a couple of Glock high cap mags for it just to keep my LGS guy happy. A pic:
![]() It is one of the nifty little take down ones! Can't wait to get it to the range for a try out! I do plan on putting an adjustable peep sight at the rear end of the Weaver mount to get a decent sight radius!

I got one too! Can't wait to get it to the range...
Haven't figured out how to adjust the sights... I could look in the owners manual but where is the fun in that. ![]()

Politically correct Pistol Caliber Carbine. Because an AR15 that takes glock mags and has a pistol grip is evil and scary and must be banned.
Replacement for Camp 9 or Camp 45. Of all of my guns, the PCC gets to the range on *every* trip ... so much fun My PCC - a bits-n-pieces build on a PSA Glock mag lower - itis the AR on the far left, next to the FN-FAL build ![]() |

9mm carbine, for those of us with 9mm sidearms.
Yes, there are a plethora of 9mm carbines out there, for whatever reason this one just felt right (in the store when I handled it). One guy on youtube uses his for coyote control.

I've been thinking of getting one of those to replace my KelTec Sub2000.

Why get rid of the K-T? I love my Sub 2000 - one of my favorites. I can knock down steel plates faster with the sub than anything else in my safe. No one has ever shot it (right handed), that didn't hand it back to me with a huge grin on their face. In all fairness, my Sub 2000 has just about every mod / upgrade on the market. Plus it was updated by the factory to all the latest and greatest parts - for free. Great service department at Kel-Tec.

Not sure why they even make irons anymore. Once you get used to the dots, its hard to go back. Battery life is about 50,000 hours on most stuff now. Burris makes a 5X dot that would be perfect on the Ruger ( less battery life with magnified optics using complex reticles). Shooting with both eyes open is the correct method, so why not get a little help from technology?

The purpose is............
My personal purpose for having a 9mm carbine is to use in centerfire steel plate matches. There are various classes for revolvers, pistols and now pistol caliber carbines. Since I tend to shoot more accurately and faster with a long gun, I see this as a way to have some fun! There is a "stock" class that requires open sights, 10 rd magazines and no mods like muzzle brakes, etc. Then there is an "unlimited" class that lets you use red dot sights and any size magazine. The stock sights on the Ruger PC carbine are a post front with a peep rear sight, my favorite setup. Let the fun begin!

Took the Ruger carbine to the range this morning. Started on a bullseye paper target to check windage and elevation. Windage was ok but I needed to move the rear sight up a bit for the disistances I will be shooting. Once the basics were taken care of, I moved to a centerfire range with some steel falling plate targets. Some of the plates are pretty heavy but the 9mm carbine took them all down convincingly. Now it's just a matter of getting in enough practice time. As you would expect, recoil was very minor with a 6+ lb. shooter. The Ruger uses a blowback action with a heavy bolt. Most of the felt recoil seems to come from the heavy bolt hitting the receiver, not the firing of the cartridge. All in all, very manageable with very little muzzle climb.

I have a '63 vintage Ruger 44 carbine semi auto... gotta use near full house jacketed bullet loads to get it to function and protect the gas system from shavings.
Even being a semi, at a hair over 5lbs loaded, it has some recoil, especially considering that stupid curved butt stock Ruger uses on them and the 10/22 carbine. I'd replace it but I've only seen walnut traditional stocks at $500ish... |

and then I need a .44 Mag 1892 or 1894 and a .44 Mag with a 4" barrel.

Taurus model CT9
9mm 10 shot clip, 30s are avail. Made in Brazil . purpose was crowd control and multiple scenio street use. 9mm is dirt cheap yo shoot. And matches my pistols, so one common ammo platform. What sold me, being left handed, is this rifle is ambidextrous. Both sides have safety's, bolt lock back, and front grab bolt slide. Other than my Sig instant on Red dot, on a bipod, this is a stock gun outta da box with rails and all. Fairly affordable package for fun plinking too. https://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=889&category=Rifle ![]() |

I love my Marlin '94 Cowboy in .45 Colt. One of my favorite plinkers. I've fitted it with a Williams WGRS peep on the rear and an XS Sight Systems post on the front.
Now that I've kind of broken the ice with a couple of new Miroku Winchesters (Models 71 and 1886), I think my next rifle is going to have to be one of their new 1892's. I'm thinking .38 Special / .357 Magnum. These rifles are amazingly well made and finished. I dare say better than the originals. Any pistol caliber carbine or short rifle is just a hoot. Take your pick - semi auto, lever gun, and even bolt actions (from Ruger). You just can't go wrong for good clean fun at the gravel pit. Cheap to feed, no recoil, and accurate enough for tin cans at gravel pit ranges. Every growing boy should have one... or two...

Everything you say about the Taurus is pretty much true about the Ruger, cheap ammo, ambidextrous, the Ruger also comes with an adapter for Glock mags. I also really liked the sights on the Ruger right off the shelf. Beretta: ![]()
