Never been in one. Most of my furniture is inherited. What isn't is from the Amish. What the Amish won't make for me I make for myself.

I quit on particle board back in the oughts....

I bet IKEA must be big over there? There used to be a store name Stork from Sweden that sold knock down furniture similar to IKEA. Are there more similar stores there?

Similar discussion for sure. :D
Its huge. I rarely visit though. Too much people.
Never heard of Stork, unless its a bird with tall legs.

One idea is to build your own cabinet boxes and then fill them with IKEA drawers, etc. A drawer that fits in a 28" net opening is 25 bucks. And that includes soft close guides. You can't build a drawer and buy guides and beat that price.

Even better, a wire mesh basket pullout of the same size is only $15!! Very nice for socks, sweaters, etc. for the ventilation. Comes with the mounting rails as well.

We walk into IKEA to get DIY ideas for our own home, not buy rooms full of cheap furniture. I think we have only bought a stand up closet for my son that we couldn't find elsewhere.

Just picked up a TV STAND/storage unit at IKEA along with a desk and chair for my son. Plus a few odds and ends. Had a cheap Swiss meatball lunch too.
Very nice experience.

Just settled my daughter into an apartment in Arizona for grad school. Was cheaper to hit the Ikea in Tempe to furnish her 4 yr home then move hand me downs from Maryland. Everything she got was wood; no particle board. While not perfect for everything, it was perfect for this purpose. Just like everything else in life, a place for everything...

funny I saw the thread title and popped in just to mention the meatballs! grew up eating what my mother called 'Swedish meatballs' and always loved them.

we get good use from their plastic containers and various organizing pieces.

Went there once, I don't get it. Dorm quality furniture contained within a rat maze with no windows. Like some sort of weird study on human behavior. My wife and I were trying to figure out how to escape, but ended up just following the sheeple through the maze. No thanks.

About half of whom probably thought you were one of the sheeple as they were making their own escape.

Never been inside an Ikea, maybe I should reconsider?
