Excellent point... I often scan craigslist for $4K coupes and some very interesting offerings pop up.

I guess I just got excited because I see this thing when I walk out of my house and it looks cool (to me).

Drive it - specifically around a few turns, and report back. I did this once, same vintage and found the steering and suspension unbearably light and undefined / mushy. I moved on.

Make sure there are no crowds by the side of the road or that might make the steering jerk off to one side, the side of the crowd..

Thanks HD, this is why I love this place... I know zip about 90's vintage Mustang's and got the info I needed... cool to look at but not so much to drive.

Thanks to everyone for the constructive criticism.

I like driving my Mach 1, and I also enjoyed driving my ragged out 2002 GT. Its a different paradigm, and I don't see the point of comparing sports cars to muscle cars.

They are a lot of fun for the money, and if you have any inclination to do upgrades, parts are cheap and everywhere.

You realize most of the responses on this thread have been positive, right? I know you seem to have a victim mentality but damn.....

Why do I get the feeling I could post about a cure for cancer and you'd find a fault?

Not trying to be argumentative but are not modern cars blurring the line of sports cars/muscle cars? Take a 2018 Camero for example?

Give it a shot, we’ll see what happens. All I’ve seen since you sold your 911 is a solid cadence about how Porsche owners are snobs, Mustangs are incredible including the Bullitt, and playing pool.

I wouldn't compare a 2018 Camaro and a 1998 Mustang..... two very different cars. But to your point a Modern Mustang or Camaro are world beaters, when they are compared to M3's that is saying something.

People may whine about power per Liter or "old" pushrods, but I prefer power per lb of engine mass as a comparison point.

If you just want a fun cheap toy... I would ask what you all in budget is... if you plan to add some fun mods or not.

I love an old 90's Notchback, gets the cool nod from just about every car guy, cheap parts, one of my favorite engines, and just a cool ol street fighter.

The 96-98 are a bit of a middle child, not bad, just stuck between IMO two better options. Unless you can find deal on a 96-98 Cobra, I love the 4cam engine.

If I had to pick a fun toy right now, I would kill to do a Miata K24 swap! But my now sold Notch makes my Porsche sound like complete crap! Hard to beat the sound pf a hot lil 302.

My ‘92 LX hatch is a fun car to drive. My daughter has learned to drive a manual with it and it is going to be her car come this spring.
