I doubt there is any damage at all.

Serious question. I assume from the picture that the totality of the accident is that the ramp under the driver's rear tire collapsed and that the weight of the car is resting on three tires plus the frame just forward of the left rear tire. Is that likely to have caused any damage? Would the way to get it out of there be to put a jack under the transmission like you were lifting it to change oil, and just jack it up until you could get the ramp (securely) under the tire?

MRM - I would think that'd be one way to do it, but I wouldn't want to put that much stress on the trans/bell housing. At that angle you're lifting more than if the car were just level I believe.
My question is, will the shipper ever inform the owner of the mishap or will he just get it righted and move on, hoping that no damage is found until well after he leaves?

Out of the box thinking....Take a big strap and wrap it around the car just in front of the rear wheels and use the clamshell (back end of the trailer) to lift the car up to replace the ramp.

I can think of a number of ways to get the car right depending on what equipment is on board the truck. The main thing is that it's on an incline and wants to slide. A winch hooked up to the front tow hook is going to be necessary before letting the car slide more. |
