Most fun DD... that's not a Porsche
Just sitting here thinking about my next car.... currently Doing a Giulia Ti, that replaced my Abarth (missing it).
I am thinking about another hot hatch, but wonder what folks are enjoying. The Abarth I had replaced a MK6 GTi and while not nearly as "good" of a car, was in my top 3 smiles per mile. So please share what you are or have truly enjoyed as a daily... Automatics need not apply. ![]() |

You said hatch...I love hatches and wagons. I currently have as a DD a 2009 535xi 6MT (E61) wagon. It’s got a twin turbo with reprogrammed ECU. It’s a sled for sure but gets up FAST. I need to put some stiffer anti roll bars on it. But it’s been fun and pretty reliable besides a water pump that left my wife partially stranded.

I had a 89 240sx before my 911 and it was quite a bit more fun to drive. and it was stock. I can only imagine one with a sr20 or other turbo engine and a welded diff like the drifters do.

I had a 89 Sil80 full JDM engine and trans swap.... what a great engine.... Sometimes I think I should have bought like 4 great Japanese cars instead of my 911sc.
Also had 2 miatas, both 1st gen, one stockish the other with a turbo, 200RWHP (stock WRX made 150AWHP) My 2000 Subaru with full WRX swap was in my top 3 270CHP, and 2700lbs... amazingly good car. I was thinking about another Abarth, or maybe a tuned Golf R (to boring stock) Would kill for an RS3 but to $$$ and I don't think I can get a manual. Love Subaru, but I don't vape and have no flat rims hats. Thought about a Chevy SS, I think they are very underrated. How has that 535xi been for maintenance? |

I should mention that I will need back seats, though I am will to make my kids suffer in small ones.
![]() I do like the Fiesta ST, looked at those when I got my Abarth, the Abarth was just a lil more childish which I liked. |

Meh...not great. At time of purchase 4 years ago, I had some items attended to under balance of CPO warranty upon purchase = new turbos due to integrated waste gate rattle, new oil filter housing, new injectors and brake rotors. Under my watch I have needed new water pump and valve cover.

Norton Commando
Great for the 18mile commute to work. No need for a hatchback. Just wear a backpack.

Two words... Kids and winter.
![]() Also I have a 76 Honda Cb550 in mid cafe build. Also based on your rides, you have a budget that I cannot contend with... I reside in the sub-wealthy club ![]() I honestly keep coming back to the Abarth, nothing I have owned is a smile inducing... including the 911sc (fear of expensive repairs hold the smiles back) |

Geronimo,
I'm going to PM you when my brother is coming back here. If you want to tinker with your carbs I'll have him bring some of his stuff home with him. I think between the two of us and the tools at our disposal we can get you happier with your car. Plus, my brother really loves talking PMO's As fun DDs , the one I miss the most is a 1995 Subaru legacy. It wasn't fast but I could go off road in that thing and have a smile on my face the whole time. |

In that case, the 2007 STI was the best bang for the buck I've ever owned. Personally I prefer the styling of the older Subaru WRX/STI. I used to live in Akron, OH when I had the Subaru and winters were no problem for the STI with snow tires.

Ever driven an R53 Mini Cooper in anger, if you can find a JCW equipped one, which is getting super hard to find, try one.
2 mods, some lighweight rims and non runflat tires, and a rear sway bar and there is virtually no understeer, it drives like a rwd car at its limits.

Check out the Focus ST. More power then the fiesta and super fun to drive. Can be modded to over 300 ponies too for not too terribly much....

Sorry, only "hot hatches" ever owned were Prosches, 944Turbo, 928.
Instead of hatch just went ahead and got an SUV.

E36 M3 is still on my short list. I have had most of the RWD cars listed above. I still own a built Miata and a tuned WRX.
