Anyone else recall seeing a 930 vid posted here years ago showing a fully functional, analog combo afr and boost gauge? It was hypnotizing!

996 --> 986, yes. 997 --> 987, no.

986/996

987

This is the same story as me trying to retro-fit a dipstick. It just isn't going to happen in my car.

The trend in avionics is digital. But I’ll just keep my old round gauges for now. With a little help from the iPad.

If you look at dash / gauge / steering wheel designs mid 50's to early 60's from all 3 Detroit manufacturers like what is pictured in the first part of this thread. Art deco meets jet aircraft at its finest. Simply beautiful.

Gotta love an old Beechcraft. I had a 1958 "V" tail Bonanza. (lots of round gauges) Loved the airplane but had to sell it after a new engine installation ruined my budget. I fly a 1965 Cessna 150 now and love flying it as well.

Aftermarket gauges are round because for the average home mechanic customizing his car, its easier to drill (hole saw) a round hole than to cut a rectangular hole.

Who needs aftermarket gauges anymore? Get a OBD port blue tooth and download an app to your phone, cradle your phone launch app, and display any gauge or gauges you want.

Yeah, but I don't want my phone hanging out like that. If there was a better place to put it maybe.

On the Airbus, I think the only round gauge left now is the brake pressure.

Who you fly with, a good friend of mine flies with Wisconsin Air contracted to American IIRC.

He loves his Airbus's, carries on about how awesome they are.
