Any Dodge Magnum Fans??

My business partner is a designer, so we are starting a 2 new car related businesses, one for design, the other for restoration, Sport Specialty Transportation and Retrospect Classic Garage. This is Fred's vision of what a Dodge Magnum should look like and we bought and are going to convert a 2005 RT AWD to this rendering. This isn't the first time that Fred has built one of his dream cars and he has even shown (one of very few invited) to display at SEMA.

i sold these at a chicago land dealership, we had one that was an RT and they lowered it and put 20" Vouge wheels on it, along with the dealer installed billet grille, when everything was done they moved the car to the showroom and i kid you not, the car was sold with in 5 hours, but i will admit this was one of the best cars i had ever seen with dealer instaled options, it was also the color dodge calls cool vanilla, only the rwd platform and the pt come in the color i think its very nice

Cindy & I thought we wanted one, Hemi equipped. We walked into a local dealership ready to write a check. 1/2 hour with the bozo salesman & we walked. Once home, sanity returned, we decided to keep the money in our modest portfolio, driving the current daily driver for a bit longer. The daily driver is a '99 Ranger XLT 4 door, loaded...it only has 33,000 on it's clock. We thought we "needed" a 4 passenger rig. Then it dawned on us that the Ranger functions well for our needs, and on the rare times friends are staying here, we'd be a ton of money ahead to just rent a luxobarge for the hauling of 4 people.

Revising this old thread - only one I find on this car!

I am thinking about picking one up as a dog hauler / practical around town car.. They seem pretty cheap for a 10 year old car. Any long term owners? Looks like the last model is 2008 and has a face lift / the best options. With teen drivers it probably won't be the R/T or SRT-8. Why do I watch out for looking at one used? I guess any issues on the the 300C apply?

Edit: After a little more reading, it sounds like 2.7l engines and 4 speed autos are not preferred. So shopping for a SXT with 3.5 or RT afterall with the HEMI. Have to call the insurance before I'd get serious.

I think for now, I'll find one local and test drive. Then start hunting for something that's cheap.

Thanks!

G

That design is close enough that it really needs wood sides like the wagons of the 60's and 70's!

Friend had one in HS. Pretty neat car, but the visibility out of the rear is nearly none. Definitely drive one before buying!

Did the car in the original post ever come together? Did it make it to SEMA?

Wow thread revival!

I didn't know they sold the touring version of the 300C in Europe instead of the Magnum. It took some time to adjust my eyes, but now I think they look right at home on the Autobahn.

Sadly no, Fred's wife had a major health issue, and he sold off everything to concentrate on her getting better. I turned down buying the magnum rt , kind of wish I had sincevit was AWD.

My boss had a Hemi Magnum years ago, he had it nicely modified with suspension, wheels, full exhaust, and a tune. It sounded wicked and he didn’t have any major issues, his only big complaint was the cheap interior.

Not many, even fewer in the RT, hell, his may have been the last one, his buddy owned a dealership, and when they submitted the paperwork, it was announced AWDs would no longer be offered.
