Hospitals are even worse. You have to have someone with you all hours of the day and night unless you are asleep. Even then they give you the wrong meds. Almost better to spit it out if you can't see for yourself and wait for your companion to verify. Also, a companion has to monitor sanitary practices. I swear half the hospital workers would wipe their ass with your dinner napkin.

This is so true. The systems (if you can call them that) are not electronically well connected. Part of the problem is all the HIPAA rules. Lots of people and entities wanting various bits and pieces of info. before significant procedures are started. If you want to watch a scary documentary try The Bleeding Edge (Netflix). On top of that - they don't tell you very much when you are in the hospital. A simple not-checking-a-box or getting released one day "early" can result in you being libel for all the cost of your rehab. We could start a new thread on what to watch out for if you are in a continuous care facility (CCRC) or thinking of signing up at one.
