It's white oak. The strips are 5/16" *7/8". Made the radius 4" * 1 1/2". Tried making the strips thicker than 5/16", but, couldn't bend them around the radius

Place pencil between the sticks and scribe each side of the radius.

Nice work!

We used to do something similar with arched handrails.

Mr. Rocket, I've been to Mt. Pleasant, SC a few times had a girlfriend there, she lived in a house on stilts, on salt marsh with access to the ocean.

Railings sound a bit more challenging.

Arches on their sides or an angle.

Sounds like a few places here.

Was it a neighborhood?

Yes, it was a neighborhood, and the houses were 2 story on top of stilts.

Been going to a buddy's place in Simsonville. who I played sports with in high school. We go to Clemson games. Actually, 3 of us meet up for our annual Clemson game.

I used a similar jig (although quite a bit smaller) in constructing the front apron on a demilune table I made several years ago. I stacked several layers of bending plywood and the front and rear of the apron was resawn solid cherry.

We used alot of framed door and window arches in the 80's & 90's. Used to have the formula for the radius, given the height and width, memorized.

Today, not so much....
