Someone breaking into the house when I’m sound asleep. When asleep you could steal the whole place and plug me. The likelihood is extremely slim but when I hear noises at night I force myself awake and check them out, then take an hour to go back to sleep. If I pulled my 9mm each time, my wife would find a new husband.

Edit: I installed motion activated lights surrounding my house as a deterrent. The deer don’t seem to care.

Anything I can't see hear or smell that can kill me.

Not truly irrational.

Have personal real world life experience with the grim reaper trying but thankfully failing.

I can't even WATCH people climbing scary stuff like El Cap or abandoned chimneys or mile high radio towers. I get vertigo.

Oh, and being tracked and killed by a cougar (not the human kind) up in the woods while mtn biking alone. Not too likely, but it did happen last summer 8 miles from here. Then I learned from a naturalist there is a mother and two large cubs living about a mile away.

Yup. In college, I worked bldg maintenance and it was a 9 story bldg with a nice trellis up top. On the side of the building there were planter boxes that could be accessed via an office window. The 9th floor one required going over the side. Fcuk no!

I also fear dementia and cancer. With dementia, it eats away your memories. Cancer eats away at you.

Not an irrational fear, but I have an intense dislike of Black Widow spiders. I think it comes from my mother warning me about them as a small kid. I kill all of them I find & even do the magnifying glass trick on some. My wife keeps a tarantula, & it doesn't bother me a bit.

Okay, cilantro. I fear someone is going to put that vile thing in my food. I'm very careful at Vietnamese, Mexican and dim sum restaurants.

I am not afraid of confine spaces, but extremely confine spaces will freak me out. I used to crawl around in attics and crawl spaces and stay there 6-7 hours doing work without issues. I was also 15-10 lbs lighter and in great shape. My biggest fear is that once I get into a really tight space, I can't get out pinning myself in. I have not been in those tight spaces in a very long time. I was under my sister's house a couple years ago where I have to wiggle around like a worm go get at this spot under her bath to replace a pipe. I had to suck in my gut to get through this couple of floor joists.

Another is riding in back of a very small car with limited leg room to the point where you just can't more. The minute I think about it, that's where I start to cramp up and just want to struggle free from what feels like a fly in a spider web so I stop thinking and relax and look out the window. Freaky feeling for sure.

I don't drink spirits. I occasionally have a beer with friends and that's always stored in a garage fridge.

Really guys?

My company does aerial photography for a living. I can't count the number of times I have been in our Cessna 172 or 182 with the window wide open, and the pilot banks into a turn, and I am looking straight down with nothing but the seat belt and the door of the airplane and some air between me and ground. I have been under my old house, and had to dig down into the dirt some to get under the AC duct work to wiggle like a worm to get to the kitchen area. Then I came upon some racoon turds. They were old and dried up, but I knew it had been there once, and could be again.

I remember being in my back yard many years ago and a garter snake showed up. A buddy of mine screeched like a little girl, and said look, a copper headed rattle moccasin, with coral tip! I though that was funny, he was terrified.

I worked in a commercial photolab for many years. We had darkrooms that were 100% dark as a coal mine on a moonless night. We had a few new employees quit over the years because they could not handle being in total darkness. I spent many years worth of time in total darkness. A few hours per day for over 25 years.

It almost has to be my upbringing. My mom was a docent at the local zoo for many years. She used to take the zoo van to schools and bring a 6 foot boa constrictor, small gator, owl, and a few tarantulas with her. She would handle them all, and let the older kids hold them.

I've spent my life trying to get over irrational fears. My mother thought the best way to keep her kids safe was to make them terrified of everything so they wouldn't do anything remotely dangerous. I've been fighting fear of snakes, confined spaces, heights, and water my whole life. I've never been bothered by insects though. I pretty much got over heights, then started getting vertigo at anything over about 15 feet.
One thing that creeps me out that makes no sense whatsoever is ships. Yellowperil's posts creep me out.

I used to fly a Piper cub with the door down and my knee sticking out. Didn't bother me at all, but I wouldn't get over 20 feet up on a ladder.
