Talk about coughing up a lung!

He went to the hospital for congestive heart failure and started coughing. He really did cough up a lung! Damn!

Died of the heart failure a week later.

I have heard that expression, but I did not think it was physically possible. Like "head up your ass" I figured it was just an expression.

10 years ago I went to the hospital for congestive heart failure (my EF ratio was 13%). I didn't cough anything up, but sure got rid of alot of fluids when placed on a diretic water pill.

Overnight, I lost 13# on a 190# frame....no wonder I couldn't catch my breath.

OK, A bit of google found that the photo is of a blood clot, the shape of the lung. Still amazing, bu the actual lung did not come up. I feel better.

Casting of the bronchial tubes. The lung itself is full of blood. No matter how much O2 they would pump inside of him would actually get into the blood stream to supply the rest of the body. Had two patients cough up large chunks of blood. We were told to bag and transport with the patient so they could look at what it was.
