I suspect that's why he blurred out their faces. No point in giving someone a reason to retaliate. Not to mention, he does have their picture and some of their addresses. The bad guys seemed to be amused by it... for the most part.

Never had a package stolen from us. Someone would have to be bold to do that.

Somewhat related, I stole this idea from The Chive, we put a cooler out with waters and snacks for our delivery people.

The mail lady actually gave us a thank you card.

I do believe his primary intent was to both capture video of the theft, and recover the video capture package.

The package was designed to annoy such that it would be discarded upon opening.

Some of your other ideas in this thread might result in the package being destroyed instead of discarded.

Yep. The all seeing eye of the internet. It could have stood on it's own but he had to fake parts...

Or he is a master marketer. Got millions to watch at first, then once it died down, admits it's partially fake which is picked up news media and millions more watch.

He's a YouTuber so it's not like anyone had him neck and neck with Walter Cronkite in the credibility department anyways.

Well, we all here wondered how theft was this prevalent. In most places you probably would have to wait weeks for a bite. Guy didn't have the patience, or friends in bad neighborhoods and probably also worried about losing the device, so he paid people to stage it. The whole video is very professionally made. Unfortunately there isn't much "reality" anywhere, not on TV and not on the internet. This is why you need to stop watching other people do crap and go out and do it yourself!

The same guy has been "upgrading" his "glitter bomb" every year. I think he's decided to call it quits. This video covers 5 iterations of his glitter bomb plus some extra stuff. Very cool.

Maybe a little staged, but I like his channel. My kid really digs the squirrel-olympics...

Cadaverine and putrescine might sub out well for fart spray though.

Then again, I've been reading a doc with the memoirs of a chemist that specialized with organic sulfides/selenides/tellurides. He mentions chemical leaks causing nausea and vomiting miles away and that for months or more a worker reeked of bad things regardless of how they showered or changed clothes. Perhaps this is the path for porch pirates.

Iron gall, like Diamine Registrars. DaVinci used something similar. That stuff doesn't wash or fade...

And, in domestic use, it's cool as it changes color as it oxidizes. Starts out blue, next week it's black!

graphite from a photo-copier
liquid manure
a dispersing clumped cat piss biscuit from the litter box
red-dyed pepper spray
bear spray
spring loaded can of snakes (from when we were kids in the 60s)

hang a multi-language sign on the porch warning thieves to not steal

yeah, there would be violent retaliation from the scrotes in NM

just get a PO Box and get things delivered there

get a couple of goons / hire off-duty cops (in uniform) to retrieve your phones from the perp's house

I don't get the sense that it was intentionally fake. Seems like the people that got paid to help scammed him.

I don't think that affects his credibility at all.
