Say something positive about a Pelican Thread

The last two days have had threads that were pretty disheartening.

1) Mass shooting.
2) Loss of a son.
3) I learned a Pelican lost his spouse.

Can we have a thread were we speak out and write something positive about another Pelican? Humans are all fragile. We are all a little broken. We all need recognition, even if it is from someone we will never meet on the other side of the planet. There are quite a few Pelican's that I have opinions about. Most are very positive-probably because I never go to PARF! Either way, I may contribute several times to this thread.

I will start with simple praise for Seahawk. I mentioned that my post had disappeared and he clarified that he wasn't one to delete stuff. He didn't need to do this. And, he certainly didn't delete it. I hamfistedly hit some button on my new laptop that caused the deletion. Either way, hats off to Seahawk. He is a voice of measured reason in a sometimes emotional place. THANKS!

The Pelicans who posted 1, 2, and 3 above are three that I hold in very high regard .... hell, I'll even include Seahawk .

And there's a bunch more .... way too many to name fwiw.

There's a reason I visit here.... and a reason I don't visit others .

Tabby has economics pretty much nailed...kind of like having our own Milton Friedman.

I think we can all agree that Baz is probably one of the most decent-hearted members here. I can't remember anyone really getting in his virtual grill. (if it happens up in PARF, I probably wouldn't know)

And, there's a crusty old guy down in Nevada his name starts with t and rhymes with babs who sent me a beautiful PM when my dad died.
He wasn't the only one who sent a note, but his was the most surprising because the note and the contents of the note seemed so out of character at the time. I know better now.

I posted here a couple weeks ago about my son being assaulted at school by an otherwise good kid with anger issues. To date, the thread has nearly 4000 views and 133 replies with insight as to how many of you would handle the situation I was facing (the anger / frustration in me wanted me to react differently than I ultimately did).

I appreciate everyone who replied and shared how they would react in my shoes. I didn't disagree with anyone's perspectives.

I saw a Bullitt mustang the other day and thought of PWD. I thought 'you know what that really is a great looking car'.

Having met and hung out with Baz, he is true Blue and really is a great person. I only wish that I could have hung out with him at the Purple Porpoise. He still has some fun pictures of us hanging out.

There is another page on this site devoted to BMW MCs. I've made some good friends there. Men with whom I've ridden and broken bread. Some have been my host and others I have hosted. One even went so far as to perform a major repair on my Beemer all for the price of dinner for his family.

I've yet to meet with any here except for a crossover member the charming Mr Carlton. I've had rewarding exchanges with most, an opportunity to share in charitable ventures with a few and had my PoV expanded by two or three.

I am certain that a sit down with nearly any of you would be a version of My Dinner with Andre.

Some of you guys sound like you have known each other for many years, I still feel like newbie because I haven't been here all that long. Heck, I don't even own a Porsche, for cryin out loud. I somehow stumbled across this forum when I was looking for some tips on painting a model car and am very glad that I did.
I truly appreciate you all. It has been a very tough year losing my Dad and a Brother-in-law 2 days apart, coming up on a year now, and you guys have helped me more than you will ever know and I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I am members of sailing forums, a classic boat and Dodge truck forum as well as other forums, and I haven't checked those places in a while now, but I always check this forum to see what's up.
So, Thank You to each of you for all that you do.

Said lass is born again in spirits now that she is sporting a great looking, and functioning, grill for the first time in over 20 years . . . really awesome! And equally awesome help from many Pelicans that did not know her from Eve!

For over 22 years I've been hanging out here .... discovered it much like Marty did .... mostly browising without being logged in.

Then I accidently see a post and think .... I really need to log back in .

Some folks "get it" ... and some don't ....

I thank you all ... for putting up with me !

"Pelican" has always been generally positive.

The only time I remember it going off the rails is when two members argue incessantly about something they care about.
People are different. It's best to accept that and move on.

Wow....so nicely done, Rika....thank you for that......

For those saying good things about me - thank you - but full credit goes to my amazing Mom and Dad who put the work in.

In return, I have the utmost regard for the majority who post here, so will just give a blanket gesture of recognition & gratitude to all for their varied contributions that keep me coming back.

Keep paddling!

I will say something about this board (PPOT) and the guys and gals on it, as a whole.

When I need answers to questions or advice on life things, this is one of the first places I come. "Questions" and "life" writ broadly, everything from a stubborn plumbing leak to a family or health crisis.

This is a group of folks who collectively represent a tremendous amount of life experience, achievements, skills, humility, and challenges met and usually overcome. In a nutshell, wisdom. We've most of us been here quite a long time, I know how to interpret and calibrate the comments I get and what responses to take as funnies, which to consider thoughtfully, and which ones to take to the bank.

You are a wonderful and invaluable group, and my life would be much poorer without you.

I can't recall how I stumbled into this group - I guess it was sometime after I got my 911 in the early 2000s - but I'm sure glad I did.
