"Man Jewelry"??? Things Wives Don't Comprehend

Over the newspaper and coffee today my wife asks if I want to go for a hike this morning. I sad I couldn't because I have some stuff to do in the Man Cave. An hour later she walks out and sees me sizing brass. In her most sarcastic voice she says..."That's what you had to do...make man jewelry?"

Other than cars, what do you do that your wife has no part of and just doesn't get it?

Hunting and shooting sports for sure.

Ride dirtbikes, plow fields with my garden tractor, and about 10 other guys also plowing, watch football, and occasionally go to the dragstrip with my Mustang.

We both like restoring old stuff, but she likes houses and furniture and I like vehicles. Also our taste in entertainment- she’s fascinated by anything British, especially if it involves royalty. I can’t stand that crap. I like old cop shows, westerns, and comedy.

Really similar here. I’m fortunate that my wife shares my passion for weird and different cars, boats, sports, and even understands my shooting (though rarely joins). BUT, we deviate significantly on entertainment. She loves British stuff like Downton Abbey and the typical chick shows like This Is Us. I like educational stuff or random comedy like Archer, and of course a good action movie. Fortunately neither watches very much tv so it’s not an issue.

All kidding aside, I am blessed with my wife of 34 years that actually pays attention to my many oddball interests. I wouldn't say she takes a keen interest in all of them, but she has made an effort to at least understand my attraction to them. She can talk a good line with regards to all of them, and has more than just a cursory understanding of them. Oh, and we do have one shared interest, that is our "favorite hobby" as well.

My wife of 22 years is a complete nerd girl and moderate workaholic. She has very little interest in participating in my hobbies. Luckily, like Jeff's, she works hard to gain enough understanding of my interests to have a conversation or share in my enthusiasm. We do share interest in horizontal refreshment, music, and movies, but nothing you'd call guy stuff.

My wife will stick her nose in an obscure history book and not come out for two days. I just kinda do what I want. If I say I'm going to Costa Rica for three days, she says, "Oh, are the waves big? Have fun". If I tell here I'm going on a golf trip she says, "Don't forget your sweater". She's never once asked me not to do something. Sometimes I wish we shared more interests, but it works for us.
