I’m looking forward to the rain, too!

Yeah, me too. My weather station says we have gotten three & a quarter inches since the first. Nice to have a normal rainy season and moderate temps in the 60's & 70's. I've only played in really cold weather. I'd never want to live in it.

Here's my PSA for those of you in the freeze zone: if you have to jump start or place a charger on a battery in those nasty temps be EXTRA careful , if the battery is frozen they can easily explode ! Been there done that !

Chicago police are reporting gunpoint robberies targeting people wearing pricey Canada Goose jackets as temperatures plunge in the city.

Over the past two weeks, police say there's been a spate of the thefts in which people wearing the luxury coats have been targeted and forced to give up the jackets. The coats can cost upward of $1,000 and are often seen on celebrities.

Six people had their Canada Goose coats stolen last week and two more were targeted Wednesday.

Police say two men jumped from a Mercedes, showed a gun and punched a 54-year-old man before forcibly taking his coat and wallet Wednesday. The same night, two men showed a gun to a 23-year-old man walking with a friend and demanded his Canada Goose coat.

Surveillance footage showed a man being robbed of his coat, the Washington Post reported.

No one has been arrested in connection with the robberies.

The coats retail from $500 to $1,200, according to its website. The most expensive coat on the site currently costs $1,695. The popular jackets are recognizable by a patch on the coat’s arm that says “Canada Goose Arctic Program.” The jackets have been seen on a number of celebrities including rapper Drake and model Kate Upton.

I grew up in that extreme cold and not only do I not miss it, I hope to never feel it again. It really is awful and dangerous. As a child, I just accepted it and it was a normal part of life. Every winter, everyone froze. As an adult who has lived in a moderate climate for decades, it seems insane and depressing.

Yep. Me too. We moved to upstate NY when I was 8. Stayed in and out of that area until I was about 35 (GE Power System). It has been nearly 20 years and I do not miss it.

I could probably change a tire in -20 weather.

Porchdog 01-29-2019 09:21 AM

Biggest deer I ever shot was in -10° with a flintlock.

My son still tells horror stories of that hunt. ;)

Geeze Brent, -34? I’ve never experienced temps that low anywhere. The coldest I’ve seen it is -27. The snow was like flour. Sky as as clear as I’ve ever seen it.

Worst part about the cold is it always drives me crazy listening to my furnace run. I live in a remodeled old farmhouse. I don't care what you do, these things just "breathe". Vinyl siding over 1/2 blue board over house house wrap and walls verified for insulation and I still feel air coming through my outlets.. and I recently had the wall open and saw the insulation around the plug box! Maddening.

Sure, and properly torque the lug nuts, too.
