I grew up in rural Iowa in the 70s. I can remember the screaming blizzards. The -30°s. I can remember crawling out of the second story window because snow drifts had buried the first floor.

Seems this is nothing new.

Going to be 3* F here tomorrow night. If I needed to, I would go out but I do not see the need. Most of my life I pretty much ignored the weather and did what I wanted to do. It is winter and I expect it to be cold and pay the utility bill as needed. It does bug me that I can not keep the cars clean.

Washed my car in Anchorage before a big long deep freeze hit in the 80's. It stayed clean for two weeks. There was nothing liquid. No slush or slurry.

If I remember there is little salt used as it is rendered non-functional in extreme temps. Some kind of ash they lay down for grip?

Getting a little sick of this ***** here.
Not a single direction I could blow snow this morning that wouldn’t blow back in my face.

No ash used here in WI on the roads. Chloride family. Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, etc... Nasty stuff. Not great for the cars.

Carry on.....

It's 1* above right now.
The 10 day forecast doesn't show anything colder than -9* on Wed. -7* for Fri.
I think -12 was the coldest night we've had so far this winter.

Correction.....i have no degrees now.

I have a hard time getting my brain to comprehend that kind of cold OUTSIDE. We have a few freezers that will keep frozen food, ice cream and stuff at -10F but it costs me something like $7K per month to run all of them 24/7. How do you even drive in that cold? Obviously no outside pets, and your buildings have all got to be designed for the cold. Damn!

It's brutal to anything living outside. Anything without shelter will parish in the winds forecast...windchills of -50 on the way. I remember windchills of -80 growing up in eastern S. Dak.. If you've never been in a ground blizzard, it's rough.

My high tomorrow will be minus 11 degrees. On Wednesday the high will be minus 25. Yes, that’s cold, even for us.

I'll be starting up semi tractors tomorrow and Wednesday mornings, can't wait. Can't leave the new ones running, they won't idle more that 10 minutes.

We're only going down to -3 F in this current blast, not too bad.

It’s a wonderful 83* here inside the oven as it cools down. I hope I made you feel like crap as you freeze your azzez off as my oven lives the good life. Oh it’s 81* now, better put on a sweater. You know I feel so much better about myself right now. Chill-on.

We have 4 days of rain in our forecast. Being in SoCal the wife and I love rain. Might take a day off to stay home and watch free water fall from the sky
