I feel your pain brother! Good luck.

Mine is back up and running! Just have to figure out a way to get the flow valve to run slowly when it's cold outside like it was over the last two days. I think I know what my spring/summer project on the house is going to be! Just finishing up new granite tops, tile backsplash and appliances in the kitchen but it doesn't look like the spending will end there!

I love it when you have frozen pipes, and as you are heating everything back up, you start to hear that first little trickle. The best part , is when the trickle is coming from the spigot, and not inside my walls.
Im back up an running, no damage. phew !

You heard me correctly. THEY CLOSED THE BARS IN WISCONSIN YESTERDAY.

It was so cold here people couldn’t even talk to each other. The words froze and clinked to the ground before anybody could hear ‘em.

It's official, Hell has frozen over ...

Crisis averted. +1

Short pipe burst story. Installed a three bay stainless sink in my garage 15 years ago. Ran 3/4 copper line from one end of basement to the other end and punched thru into garage. Massive water flow. It was divine.

Left for work just after wife left on a freak -10F day. I forgot to close the garage door.

I luckily came home at lunch and hot and cold had split in the garage. I had drains so no real damage but the ice structures created from the spray were massive.

On the upside, my Reznor heater was running on full tilt.

awwww fudge . Thought I dodged the bullet. We just got rid of our worst tenant. My partner got the keys back today.
She promised to leave the heat on, she did not .
He just got the furnace fired, and said, " bring your plumbing stuff, there is water coming out of the walls !

I had a main break, before the meter on my very first rental, in conditions similar to these . Blizzard conditions, tree fell, took out the power, and furnace went off.
It took the water company 3 days to come and shut the water off because Pittsburgh was in emergency status. There were ice formations running down the front porch steps, and down the street .
I had to have a friend lower me down the basement stairs with a rope, the staircase was totally encased in ice formations .
Although I was sick to my stomach, it was pretty awesome looking . Joys of winter in the North .

I can almost picture it. Did you walk down or just say screw it and lay down for the ride?

We're still in single digits overnight and I'm on the verge of chestitis or some such. Bronchitis maybe? I need to hibernate a day or two.

All the toilets are frozen solid , Furnace condensate line was frozen and furnace kept shutting off . Hot water tank frozen solid, several broken pipes, and the meter is cracked.
The good news is, I found some sweet new reading material,.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1548998997.jpg

wdfifteen 01-31-2019 10:49 PM

Sorry to hear it Fred. Condensate line in one of the furnaces in my office building goes to the roof and freezes. Sometimes the furnace shuts down, sometimes the sump just runs over. I haven’t heard from the tenant, so either they aren’t there or the sump is overflowing. If they didn’t go to work the furnace could have shut down and no one would know. :o

Edit:
I just called the office. Furnace is working fine and by some miracle the condensate line isn’t frozen.
A few minutes ago MrsWD let me know the tank in our upstairs toilet wasn’t filling. It’s on an outside wall.
I hobbled upstairs with great trepidation, only to find the fill valve stuck. Jiggled it around and it works fine. :)

This ones kicking my ass. furnace went out, right before I went to bed last night. Seems as if when I was trying to thaw the pipes yesterday, I bumped the feed line for my furnace, and it was picking up air.
Got that all patched up, went to bed at 1:30 Up early up this am, and no water to the shower, another pipe frozen. In the heat of all the craziness yesterday and last night, I left the door open to our crawl space, and it froze tight.
Supposed to warm up today
Uncle
